Indigenous Opening Ceremony – Subsonic Music Festival 2016

At Subsonic Music Festival this year Paul Callaghan, Elder from Worimi Country conducted a Welcome to Country as part of the Subsonic Opening Ceremony.

“Ginyaang Wangga is a sacred place. Created by senior Elder Uncle Paul Gordon and Uncle Paul Callaghan, Ginyaang Wangga symbolises a place for happy dancing, and features a traditionally carved and custom produced Djukal pole.

We are privileged to be joined by Ngemba man Uncle Paul Gordon, a senior Elder and Aboriginal culture & tradition educator, to share Aboriginal culture and build relationships with individuals and the wider community. Ginyaang Wangaa is also enabled by Elder and First Nations custodian Uncle Paul Callaghan whom has worked with the Gaia’s Blush team to produce a sacred healing experience for the Subsonic Festival community. source http://www.subsonicmusic.com.au/festival/village/gaias-blush/

Gaia’s Blush is one dimension of Subsonic Festival I was very keen to see, experience and photograph.
I also picked up a book by Paul called “iridescence
